The coastal Mapuche (Lafkenche) and the sea have coexisted in harmony. The resources offered by the great ocean are well used, with a sustainable look. The coastal Mapuche has concern for those products, which are the basis of the food sustenance of coast families.  In addition, the exchange or txafkintu has been the most common ancestral form of selling, specially when it’s about getting products which couldn’t be found in the territory, acquiring them from the exchange or directly by  the sale of dried and smoked marine resources.
